welcome to our blog!

This blog tells the story of our 22-month sailing journey from Oakland, California, to Bristol, Rhode Island, aboard our beloved Bristol 32 sailboat, Ute. Please feel free to browse through the archives (partway down the sidebar to your left) to see pics and read stories of our adventures in North America and Central America . (Sorry the first 3 months of the trip are missing - they vanished somewhere in an internet cafe in Mexico - but all you're missing is CA, Baja and Western Mex).

If you're trying to track us down now that we're landlubbers, try us at uteatlarge at yahoo dot com. Thanks!

Hi Cora, Allen,
My mom (Debby Baldwin) gave me the link to this site- I have spent most of my morning reading your past posts (back to Acapulco at least) and ended up taking lunch an hour late so I could finish... :) I am so jealous. I did a similar trip a few years ago on a friend's boat (powerboat, but still fun) and am slowly, generally preparing to do something like it again on my own boat (Dreanought 32). It is awesome to read about your experiences in the places I visited and get your perspectives (I had a totally different impression of Huatulco- There's a real marina there now?? we were there 18 days waiting for the Tehuanepec window- I loved it- one of my favorite spots, esp. La Crucecita). Also cool to hear about places I missed, like Bahia Del Sol. I was imagining myself trying to get my boat over that bar with my little 10HP diesel. *shiver*.
Anyway, best of luck with the transit... and I hope to here about the San Blas Islands in the next few weeks/months. (I hope you are going there...!!)
