welcome to our blog!

This blog tells the story of our 22-month sailing journey from Oakland, California, to Bristol, Rhode Island, aboard our beloved Bristol 32 sailboat, Ute. Please feel free to browse through the archives (partway down the sidebar to your left) to see pics and read stories of our adventures in North America and Central America . (Sorry the first 3 months of the trip are missing - they vanished somewhere in an internet cafe in Mexico - but all you're missing is CA, Baja and Western Mex).

If you're trying to track us down now that we're landlubbers, try us at uteatlarge at yahoo dot com. Thanks!

The thorn spider is great - does it like humans? Planted daffodils today - rocky soil keep me from planting too many. Cally & Mike tilled the soil = took out zilllions of rocks so I could get a shovel in the ground. Spring is coming soon and usually I wait till it is too cold to plant anything - so now there will be sparkles of yellow in my backyard. Nancy and I went to Sea Point beach - lots of dogs and kids enjoying the last few days of summer - Buster and Owen will have to romp there soon. Off to hit the couch and a video - miss you, want to see a leopard. Call my principal and tell him I can't come to work but need to be paid for October. hugs nmc

The thorn spider? I don't get it.. is the yellow part it's body? Are it's legs hidden from view?
