welcome to our blog!

This blog tells the story of our 22-month sailing journey from Oakland, California, to Bristol, Rhode Island, aboard our beloved Bristol 32 sailboat, Ute. Please feel free to browse through the archives (partway down the sidebar to your left) to see pics and read stories of our adventures in North America and Central America . (Sorry the first 3 months of the trip are missing - they vanished somewhere in an internet cafe in Mexico - but all you're missing is CA, Baja and Western Mex).

If you're trying to track us down now that we're landlubbers, try us at uteatlarge at yahoo dot com. Thanks!

We just wanted to say THANKS to Ray Jason for the great write-up about Ute in the May issue of Sail magazine! Check it out if you get a chance. Cheers, UTE

You have made a great trip. Fun to have Sail magazine find you and comment - you could be starting a wave effect of 30's sailing. Jason's article was super. Again, Thank you Jason. nmc

Hey, lobsters for $3 per lb. New Hampshire lobsters are about $24 per lb. Enjoy the lobsters. nmc

Thankfully Marti sent a copy of Mr. Jason's article -- which is now affixed in Graham's baby book. The article saluted all the dream-followers followers out there. Oh Captain my Co-captain! I am so proud to know you. Hooray for quirky instruments. That Ray really pegged you, Ute. In a way I can't believe Ringo and Buster were not mentioned.

Scoot across that gulf now with fair winds and calm waters. Can't wait to hear you Utesters are back in the good ol' US of A. Love you SO much!

A&C are ashore in Key West Wednesday morning, May 16, 2007, a little over 19 months after they sailed through the Golden Gate.
We got a very short e-mail from Allen and they were on their way ashore to eat. Probably had a serious craving for sausage mcmuffins and hash browns.
